The Novice Homeowner Gets Interested In Gardening
Yes! It’s starting to rain! This means I do not have to water my new vegetable garden, and various flower beds. (thanks to my awesome and incredibly motivated mother in law for starting those up).
Today after work I went straight to the bedroom, put on clothes “suitable for various gardening pursuits” and without an after-commute bathroom break, went out to the flower bed on the north side of our new house and somewhat feebly, albeit obsessively attacked it with the tree-root-ass-kickin’ hoe my mother in law gave us yesterday after she got air to the roots of all our plant-friends and taught me how to do it too.
When I was finished, hands covered in dirt, and on their way to their first gardening-related callouses, I went inside to wash my hands and I can tell you this: Do NOT buy Method Kitchen Handwash. Yeah, maybe it will take the garlic or onion smell off of your hands, and it might smell nice in the bottle, but I did not sign up for my hands smelling like Jovan Musk, no thank you - I’d rather my hands smell like garlic. Lots of garlic, even. But not, under any circumstance, Jovan Musk. If you find it repulsive as well, we’ll be best friends forever, I guarantee it.
Update: It just looked like the backyard slab of concrete was wet, I was delusional and it hasn’t rained. But I have been checking weather.com more than I ever have in my life and it’s giving me an 80% chance of rain. Get on it, sky.
